Mysterious UFO spotted near US nuclear facility, files reveal

The US government has released another collection of declassified UFO documents. The files have renewed interest in several unexplained incidents involving military personnel, nuclear facilities, and space missions. Although the reports do not confirm extraterrestrial technology, they provide a rare look at cases that remained classified for years.

Among those who reviewed the newly released material was Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb. He has repeatedly called for greater transparency in investigations of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). Loeb believes growing public interest has encouraged authorities to release more government records.

One of the most notable cases involves the Pantex Plant in Texas. The facility plays a key role in the United States’ nuclear weapons program. It is responsible for assembling, maintaining, and storing nuclear warheads. Mysterious object prompted a security alert at the Pantex nuclear facility

According to the declassified report, the incident happened on September 1, 2015. Security radar detected an unidentified flying object north of the Pantex Plant. Guards immediately closed the facility’s gates and raised the security level. A rapid response team was then sent to investigate the sighting.

Witnesses described the object as diamond-shaped with a rounded upper section. It measured about 1.2 meters (4 feet) in length and roughly 0.6 meters (2 feet) in width. Officials said it looked similar to a large kite. However, its flight characteristics did not match ordinary objects.

The object reportedly moved silently at an altitude of 30 to 60 meters (100 to 200 feet). Its speed was estimated at between 16 and 24 kilometers per hour (10 to 15 mph). As security vehicles approached, it suddenly accelerated. It also changed direction several times before disappearing from sight.

After losing visual contact, the patrol returned to the facility. The security alert was later canceled. According to the report, investigators transferred all available evidence to the FBI. The material included radar information and surveillance video.

The released documents do not explain what the object actually was. No final conclusion has been made public. Some researchers consider this unusual. They note that known aircraft or confirmed drones are normally identified in official investigations. In this case, the object remains officially unexplained.

Other declassified UFO cases included in the latest document release

The newly released archive also contains historical records from earlier UFO investigations. One document is a transcript of a scientific meeting held at Los Alamos in 1949. The conference was organized by physicist Edward Teller. Participants discussed mysterious green fireballs reported near military and nuclear facilities in the American Southwest.

Other documents include photographs of the experimental German Horten flying wing. The archive also contains records from the US Air Force’s Project Sign. Those reports describe more than one hundred unexplained aerial sightings recorded by military pilots during 1947 and 1948.

The collection also includes reports from American space missions. Astronauts aboard Space Shuttle Columbia described seeing a rotating object outside the spacecraft in 1996.

Documents related to Apollo 14 and Apollo 17 also mention unexplained flashes of light. However, investigators found no evidence connecting those observations to extraterrestrial activity.

The publication of these files reflects a broader change in the US government’s approach to UFO investigations. In recent years, the Pentagon, NASA, and Congress have increased public discussion of UAP reports.

Officials now encourage scientific analysis instead of speculation. Even so, they continue to stress that many cases remain unexplained because the available evidence is limited.

Interest in unidentified aerial phenomena has grown significantly over the past few years. Scientists say every documented case should be carefully examined using reliable data and modern technology.

Whether future investigations identify advanced drones, atmospheric effects, or something entirely unexpected, each report helps improve our understanding of unusual events observed in Earth’s skies.
