World Could Face Devastating Weather Event in 2026

Scientists are warning that the planet could face a very dangerous El Niño event in 2026. The Pacific Ocean continues heating up at an unusual speed.

According to forecasts from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), temperatures in the equatorial Pacific may rise more than 3 degrees Celsius above normal levels later this year.

If the forecasts are confirmed, experts say this could become one of the strongest El Niño events ever recorded.

The phenomenon is caused by abnormal warming of ocean water in the Pacific. This then affects weather patterns across the world. Some countries face extreme drought and heat during El Niño. Others experience flooding, heavy rain, and destructive storms.

Researchers have already started comparing the current situation with the catastrophic El Niño of 1877–1878. That event caused severe drought across large parts of Asia, Africa, and South America.

Harvests collapsed in several regions. This led to famine and massive food shortages. Historians estimate that more than 50 million people died during the global crisis linked to those extreme weather conditions.

Scientists say the current situation may be even more dangerous. This is because the Earth is now much warmer than it was in the 19th century.

Global warming has increased both ocean and air temperatures. This creates conditions for stronger storms, longer droughts, and more unpredictable climate anomalies.

There are also growing fears that agriculture could be seriously affected if the Pacific continues warming through 2026.

Reduced crop production, rising food prices, water shortages, and economic problems are now among the main concerns being discussed by climate experts.

While researchers still cannot predict the exact strength of the next El Niño cycle, many agree that the latest Pacific Ocean temperature data looks alarming.

Climate agencies around the world continue closely monitoring the situation. Concerns are growing over a possible global weather disaster.

It was previously reported that scientists are also sounding the alarm about the rapid melting of icebergs. The world’s largest iceberg is reportedly continuing to break apart. Iceberg A23a has broken apart again, breaking off four huge chunks.
