Ukrainian Drones Attack Three Ozon Marketplace Warehouses
Explosions were reported in several parts of Russia during the night of August 24. Fires were also reported at logistics facilities belonging to Ozon, one of the country’s largest online marketplaces.
According to reports from the Telegram channel Exilenova+ and the independent Russian outlet ASTRA, Ukrainian drones targeted several Ozon warehouse complexes. Reports indicated that three or possibly four facilities were affected.
Videos and reports from the affected areas showed fires following the explosions. The incidents reportedly caused damage at locations used for large-scale storage and distribution operations.
The affected Ozon facilities play an important role in the company’s logistics network. Goods arriving at these complexes are received, sorted and stored before being sent to customers.
Shipments from these warehouses can be transferred to pickup points and other logistics centers across southern Russia and the North Caucasus. Large quantities of consumer goods pass through the regional network every day.
The facilities also have significance beyond ordinary online shopping. The region has become increasingly important for transportation and trade routes connecting Russia with countries further south.
Ozon has been expanding its logistics infrastructure as demand for online shopping continues to grow. Large distribution centers allow the company to process thousands of orders and move products across long distances.
One of the reported complexes was also viewed as a potential hub for international trade. Its location could support shipments connected with Azerbaijan and Iran through the North-South International Transport Corridor.
The reported overnight explosions highlight the growing vulnerability of large logistics facilities during the war. Warehouses, distribution centers and transport infrastructure have become increasingly important targets because they support wide regional supply networks.
The full extent of the reported damage was not immediately clear. Independent verification of the number of affected facilities and the scale of losses may require additional satellite imagery and official assessments.
