In 2024, electric cars accounted for 88.9% of new cars purchased in Norway, while in 2023 this figure was 82.4%.

In August 2024, electric cars accounted for 94% of new cars purchased by Norwegians.

According to these indicators, Norway is a contender for leadership among countries, where traditional cars with internal combustion engines will remain in the minority.

Consumer choice is largely due to the consistent policy of Oslo.

There, gasoline and diesel cars are heavily taxed, while electric cars, on the contrary, are exempt from import duties and VAT.
