Macron in favor of allowing Ukraine to strike Russian military facilities
French President Emmanuel Macron has spoken in favor of allowing Kyiv to strike military facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
This means those military facilities from which missile strikes against Ukraine are launched. This is reported by DW.
Macron said this at a joint briefing with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“We believe that we should allow them (Ukraine) to neutralize the military facilities from which missiles are launched and, basically, the military facilities from which strikes are launched against Ukraine.
But they should not be allowed to hit other targets in Russia, obviously civilian targets or other military targets,” he said.
The French president also expressed the opinion that the supply of long-range weapons capable of hitting Russian military facilities in Ukraine was not an escalation of the conflict.
At the same time, Macron refused to comment on statements about French military instructors in Ukraine.
He promised to discuss these statements with the Ukrainian authorities next week.
