In December 2024, Germany recorded a massive drone raid over the territory of Rhineland-Palatinate.
The country’s Foreign Ministry considers this to be part of Russia’s hybrid attacks, Bild reports.
A representative of the German Interior Ministry said that in Rhineland-Palatinate alone, the police received about 100 statements on this matter in 2024.
“The use of large drones to spy on security-related facilities is noticeably increasing in Germany. They are likely to be part of Russia’s hybrid warfare,” the department noted.
Bild sources said that none of these drones were intercepted or shot down.
According to them, reconnaissance flights of drones over airports and military facilities of the Bundeswehr and the American armed forces in Germany pose a particular threat.
In 2024, about 30 cases of drone sightings were recorded in the area of American facilities.
