A Chinese man passed 52 years with a toothbrush in his intestines
It became known that doctors saved a 64-year-old Chinese man who swallowed a toothbrush 52 years ago. This is reported by the South China Morning Post.
It is reported that the elderly man from Anhui province appealed to the medics with complaints of discomfort in the area of the stomach and intestines.
He said that when he was 12 years old, he swallowed a toothbrush and was afraid to tell his parents about it.
He counted on the 17-centimeter toothbrush to dissolve on its own and then forgot about the incident.
During the examination, the medics found that the brush had become fixed in the area of the small intestine.
With the help of an endoscope, doctors spent 80 minutes removing the foreign body.
The patient was very lucky, the specialists emphasized, that the brush was stuck in the curve of the intestine and had not moved there for decades.
They added that it was one of the longest objects the hospital had extracted from the patient’s digestive system in the last three years.
