El Jardinero Captured: Major Blow to CJNG
For quite some time the United States had a $5 million bounty on his head. American authorities accuse him of running major drug trafficking routes and meth labs that supplied the U.S. market.
This arrest is the latest blow to CJNG, which is still trying to recover and reorganize after losing its top boss. Losing someone like “The Gardener” at this moment definitely doesn’t make things easier for the cartel.
Mexico’s Security Minister confirmed the capture and said Flores Silva will now face justice — either here in Mexico or possibly through extradition to the United States.
En una operación planeada, desarrollada y ejecutada por la Secretaría de Marina @SEMAR_mx , a través de sus Fuerzas Especiales, fue detenido en Nayarit Audias Flores Silva, alias “El Jardinero”.

Of course, these cartels are tough and don’t disappear overnight. Still, every time authorities manage to pull off a clean operation like this, it shakes up the structure and creates new problems for those who remain.
People in the region are watching closely. Some hope it will bring at least a little calm, while others worry it could spark fresh fighting over territory.
