California Family Captures UFO Lights Merging Into Orb
On the evening of April 3, 2026, a routine family trip near the small town of Winterhaven, California, turned into a real adventure. The family, driving late at night, suddenly noticed a strange cluster of glowing objects in the night sky.
One family member captured the unusual phenomenon on video. The video quickly reached the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) and spread throughout UFO communities and the media.
The published video clearly shows four bright yellowish-orange lights hanging relatively close together in the sky. They appeared organized, as if flying in a formation.
Then they began to fade in sequence, and the remaining lights merged into a single, large glowing ball. A few seconds later, this ball also disappeared—without any sudden movement, trace, or sound. The entire scene lasted about 20 minutes.

Theories about the UFO cluster
Skeptics immediately offered their own theories about what was happening. They claimed it could have been military exercises, as California is home to numerous bases and training grounds. Or they could have been flares, often used in training exercises.
However, the objects’ behavior raises questions: the flares did not fall, did not leave a smoke trail, and did not move erratically like typical flares. They seemed to “switch off” one by one and finally merged into a single object before completely disappearing.
Reactions from the public and ufologists
The video quickly gained popularity on YouTube channels dedicated to UFOs and is actively discussed in Reddit communities.
Many proponents of extraterrestrial visitation theories note that similar cases of clusters of objects changing configuration and suddenly disappearing have been recorded for decades.
Hundreds of similar reports from around the world appear annually in the NUFORC database alone. Why do such cases continue to intrigue?
For the Winterhaven family, the answer was simple and straightforward. The mother confidently explained to her children, “We just saw a UFO.” And thousands of people around the world, having watched the video, are ready to agree with her.
While official bodies continue to study UAPs, ordinary people continue to film the sky on their smartphones. Perhaps one day, one of these videos will provide a definitive answer.
A similar incident was previously reported in New York City. Local residents there saw three mysterious, glowing, unidentified objects in the sky performing synchronized maneuvers.
