Ukraine’s GUR Captures Two Russian Soldiers

Ukrainian military intelligence fighters carried out a dangerous operation near the Zaporizhzhia direction, capturing two Russian infantrymen and escorting them through a battlefield under constant threat. The team had to cover more than 15 kilometers on foot while facing enemy fire, water obstacles and the danger of hostile drones.

The operation was conducted by fighters from the Khymera unit, part of the Timur Special Unit of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence. The agency released footage showing the operation and the difficult journey that followed the capture.

The Ukrainian intelligence fighters set up an ambush along a route used by Russian troops advancing toward the Zaporizhzhia direction. Two groups of operatives moved beyond their positions to intercept the enemy soldiers.

The planned operation ended with two Russian infantrymen surrendering. But capturing the soldiers was only the beginning of the challenge.

The Ukrainian team now had to escort the prisoners away from the immediate combat zone. Their route crossed difficult terrain and included water obstacles. Enemy fire continued, while Russian drones posed an additional threat throughout the journey.

The fighters faced a demanding march across more than 15 kilometers of dangerous terrain. Moving with prisoners under these conditions required constant attention to the surrounding battlefield.

The threat from enemy unmanned aerial vehicles made the mission even more hazardous. The team had to continue moving despite the risk of detection and attack.

According to Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, the operatives successfully brought both prisoners out of the immediate danger zone. The captured Russian soldiers were then transferred to replenish Ukraine’s prisoner exchange fund.

It was also previously reported that five Colombian mercenaries who fought on the Russian side laid down their arms and surrendered to a Ukrainian soldier after one of them convinced the others to join him.
