Two shots and two downed Russian “Shahed” jet drones shot down
A Ukrainian soldier shot down two Russian “Shahed”-type jet-powered drones in a single evening using a man-portable air defense system.
According to the Southern Air Force Command, Mykola, a Ukrainian soldier with Ukraine’s 160th Air Defense Missile Brigade, destroyed both Russian strike drones while carrying out a combat mission.
He explained that the first interception occurred after he locked onto the target and opened fire. The drone was destroyed, but the night wasn’t over yet. Soon, another Russian drone appeared, and Nikolai managed to shoot that one down as well.
Nikolai, 38, enlisted in the Ukrainian army in 2023; before that, he worked as a welder at a factory.
Since joining the military, he has taken part in combat operations in the Kharkiv and Kherson regions, as well as in the Donbas. He was also wounded during his service.
His mobile fire team has already managed to destroy 11 Russian aerial targets. He says that every successful interception gives the soldiers additional strength and strengthens their belief in victory.
A video released by the Ukrainian military shows Nikolai in action as he fires at Russian “Shahed” drones.
It was previously reported that even darkness is no help to the Russian occupiers. Ukrainian drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras are successfully attacking Russian assault groups on the front lines.
