Two nuclear countries, India and Pakistan, are on the brink of war

▪️ On April 22, 4 terrorists in India shot dead 26 tourists near the border with Pakistan in the Kashmir region. Countries have been arguing over Kashmir since independence from Britain in 1947

▪️ India blames Pakistan and has stopped issuing visas and revoked those already issued to Pakistani citizens

▪️ India has closed the largest checkpoint on the border, expelled military attachés and halted a river sharing treaty (which could trigger a water crisis in Pakistan)

▪️ Pakistan admits no guilt, has also stopped issuing visas, reduced the number of diplomats, expelled military attachés, closed airspace to Indian airlines and halted all trade with India

▪️ India has not publicly presented evidence linking the attack to Pakistan, but it is noted that the attack has “cross-border” traces

▪️ In parallel to all this, terrorist groups in both countries have stepped up to provoke more conflict.
