Ghost Appeared in Cemetery Photo – Mysterious Figure Caught in Virginia Image
I found this story completely by accident while scrolling through Reddit at around two in the morning. At first I almost skipped it because the internet is full of fake ghost stories, blurry photos, and people trying too hard to scare strangers. But this one stuck in my head for some reason.
The woman who told this story to her nephew recalled visiting an old, abandoned cemetery near Standardsville, Virginia. She enjoyed exploring forgotten places and wanted to take some photographs of the ancient graves hidden deep in the woods.
The place sounded miserable to walk through. Overgrown weeds covered almost everything. Some tombstones were tilted sideways; others had nearly disappeared under grass and dirt. She said the cemetery looked less like a burial ground and more like part of the forest itself.
She wandered around for a while taking random photos before eventually leaving. Nothing strange happened there. At least not while she was actually standing in the cemetery.
Things got weird later. Back home, while checking the pictures on her laptop, she noticed something in the background of one image. Hidden behind the brush appeared what looked like a small figure standing motionless near the graves.
“Ghost, my aunt captured in photos during a cemetery walk 20 years ago”. Reddit. Paranormal.

The shape was unclear, but it definitely looked human enough to make people uncomfortable. Some online users thought it resembled a little girl wearing old clothes. Others immediately called it fake or blamed shadows and lighting.
Honestly, the photo sits somewhere in that annoying space where your brain can’t fully decide what it’s seeing.
A few people claimed it was probably an old doll thrown into the cemetery years ago. Another person mentioned pareidolia—the tendency for humans to see faces and figures in random patterns.
The woman rejected those explanations and insisted the area had been empty when she took the picture. Later she reportedly used a Ouija board because she became obsessed with finding out what was in the image.
According to her post, the board revealed the name Teresa Collier, supposedly an eight-year-old girl connected to the cemetery decades ago. No evidence supporting the story was ever found, which only made the entire thing feel even stranger.
Maybe the picture captured absolutely nothing paranormal. Maybe it was just branches, shadows, and imagination mixing together at the perfect angle.
Still… if you suddenly found a childlike figure hiding in the background of your own cemetery photo late at night, you probably wouldn’t sleep normally either.
