Why does concrete not cure in a concrete truck?
Concrete is a building material that hardens through a chemical reaction between cement and water known as hydration.
But why doesn’t it harden in a concrete truck?
First, the concrete truck’s rotating drums prevent the components from settling.
When the concrete is mixed, the components remain evenly distributed, which prevents clotting and particle settling.
Without settling, the cement remains in an active state and does not fully react with water, which slows the curing process.
In addition, the use of setting retarders helps to keep the mix plastic for several hours.
Also, the low temperature inside the concrete truck slows down the hydration process.
