Trump imposed duties on uninhabited islands
US President Donald Trump has imposed duties on the uninhabited islands of Heard and McDonald. They have imposed 10 percent tariffs against them.
Only huge populations of penguins, pinnipeds and seabirds live on these islands.
At the same time, the very area where only scientists periodically appear is part of Australia, against which the tariff was also 10%.
Apparently, the islands were put on the list so that Australia would not circumvent the duties by registering its companies in foreign territories.
The US Treasury Secretary urged other countries to sit back and not retaliate against Trump’s new unprecedented duties
The world media carried the news of Trump’s duties imposed against all countries on their covers.
“Trump unleashes whirlwind of duties against world order“, ‘Trump is against the world’, ‘Trump unleashes trade war’, ‘Trump imposes 20% duty on EU’, ‘UK avoids worst tariffs as Trump hits ’foreign rogues’”.
