The wife of the ex-president of South Korea has been arrested
It became known that the wife of the arrested ex-president of South Korea was also arrested.
A Seoul court on Tuesday sent Kim Kon-hee, the wife of arrested former South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol, into custody.
Yoon was ousted and later arrested for attempting to impose martial law, while the wife is accused of stock market manipulation and bribery, BBC writes.
52-year-old Kim Kon-hee denies guilt, but the court did not believe her and after a four-hour hearing decided to imprison her, explaining that at large she could destroy evidence.
Thus, for the first time in South Korean history, both a former president and a former first lady were under arrest at the same time.
In South Korea, presidents have been removed, arrested, and sentenced to prison more than once, without their wives being arrested.
