The CIA was looking for Hitler for another 10 years after the war
The CIA searched for Hitler for 10 years after the war, The New York Post reported, citing documents declassified by the intelligence agency.
Despite confirmation of Hitler’s death in 1945, U.S. agents spent the next decade hunting for him in South America.
CIA documents indicate that in 1955, an agent codenames CIMELODY-3 received a secret photograph.
This photograph allegedly showed Adolf Hitler on a beach in Colombia under the name Adolf Schrittelmayor.
Earlier in 1945, U.S. intelligence had reported a prepared hideout for Hitler.
The secret hideout was in a hotel in La Falda, Argentina, owned by his supporters.
However, in 1955, the CIA decided to stop the operation, citing low chances of confirming the theory.
The CIA requested funding to continue the search, but its leadership rejected the request.
