Letter from a Titanic passenger, sold for a fantastic amount 

Letter of a passenger of the Titanic sold at auction for 400 thousand dollars. About it, writes The Guardian.

Sold at the auction, letter-card dated April 10, 1912.

In it, a passenger of the first class of the ship, Colonel Archibald Gracie shared his impressions of the ship.

“It is a fine ship, but I shall wait until the end of my voyage before I pass judgment on it,” Gracie wrote.

The letter fell into the hands of the salesman’s great-uncle, who was acquainted with Gracie. He received it at the Waldorf Hotel in London.

Letters from surviving passengers of the ship rarely, if ever, make it to the market, and Gracie’s letter had never before come up for sale.

It is known that on the night of the tragedy, the colonel woke up to the fact that the engines suddenly stopped – he soon realized the scale of the disaster.

According to the publication, he helped several women and children into lifeboats.

Then he, along with other men, found an overturned boat, on which he was able to leave the scene of the wreck.

Earlier it was reported that the doors from the movie “Titanic”, which saved the heroine Kate Winslet in the final part of the movie, sold for 718 thousand dollars.
