Japan is hit by powerful typhoon Shanshan
The most powerful typhoon Shanshan has hit the southwestern coast of Japan.
Such a typhoon has not been remembered in the country for several decades.
The disaster brought torrential rains that led to widespread flooding, landslides and power outages.
Shanshan-induced landslides and roof collapses have killed at least four people and injured about a hundred.
One local resident has been missing for almost 24 hours.
A body has been found in the sea, but it has not yet been identified: it may be another victim.
At least 237,000 homes are temporarily without power.
In the southern regions of the country, the movement of trains, closed highways, and Japanese airports canceled about 700 flights.
Large industrial companies, including Nissan and Toyota, temporarily closed their plants throughout the country.
This was done in order not to jeopardize employees, as well as due to a possible shortage of spare parts.
