Iranian President Raisi killed in a helicopter crash
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash – now it is officially confirmed.
Besides him, Hosein Amir Abdollahian, Iran’s Foreign Minister, who was flying with him, died.
Malik Rahmati, the governor of East Azerbaijan, died. As well as four crew members.
The first footage of the helicopter after the crash appeared.
Preliminary, due to difficult weather conditions and poor visibility, it crashed into a mountain.
Acting President of Iran after the death of Ebrahim Raisi will be the first vice-president of the country Mohammad Mokhber.
Mokhber served as the head of the Imam Khomeini Order Implementation Authority (EIKO) – directly controlled by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei – from 2007 to 2021.
The U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions against Mokhber and EIKO in January 2021.
Under Iran’s constitution, a snap presidential election must be held within 50 days.
Mokhber was part of a group of Iranian officials who visited Moscow in October and agreed to supply missiles and drones to the Russian Federation.
Video of the crashed helicopter carrying the Iranian president has emerged.
