Inauguration of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican
The inauguration of Pope Leo XIV has begun at the Vatican. The pontiff has already appeared before the faithful in St. Peter’s Square.
As it is known, the 267th head of the Catholic Church became a native of Chicago, Augustinian Robert Francis Prevost, elected a week and a half ago.
During the ceremony, the Pope will receive the symbols of authority: a fisherman’s ring and a pallium – a white ribbon with six black crosses.
Earlier, Leo XIV offered his mediation to warring parties around the world.
“I will do everything in my power to spread peace,” he declared.
Referring to the many conflicts in the world, the Pope condemned violence and called for efforts to achieve peace.
The inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Rome is now being attended by many world leaders.
