A landslide wiped out a village in the Swiss Alps
In the Swiss Alps the day before there was a large-scale landslide, which literally demolished everything in its path, writes BILD.
People in the houses were no longer – the residents of Blatten managed to evacuate in advance. However, the disasters did not end there; now the region is threatened by flooding.
According to the authorities of the canton of Valais, the riverbed of the Lonza River was blocked. Because of the rain that started the day before, the water is rising even faster.
The authorities have urgently requested help from the Swiss army, including the installation of pumps.
People are asked to strictly follow the authorities’ instructions and stay away from the danger zone. Neighboring villages have also been evacuated.
