Імплант для лікування мігрені

Implant for the treatment of migraine

It has become known that in the Netherlands for the first time an implant for migraine treatment has been placed under the scalp.

The new development belongs to the Dutch company Salvia BioElectronics.

The implant consists of two thin devices that are placed under the skin – one in the forehead area, the other on the back of the head.

These devices send weak electrical impulses to the nerves involved in migraine attacks.

It is also known that patients can activate the implant on their own.

This technology, called neuromodulation, has already been successfully used to treat other neurological diseases.

According to scientists, it can reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks.

Test installations of the implants will be carried out not only in the Netherlands, but also in Belgium and Australia.

According to the latest published data, 14-15% of the world’s population suffers from migraine.

Women are twice as likely as men to suffer from migraines due to the hormonal background.
