Hundreds of eyewitnesses saw a mysterious fireball in the sky

Hundreds of residents of the western United States and even Canada witnessed a rare celestial phenomenon – a bright green bolide that streaked across the sky with unusual speed and brightness.

The most spectacular fireball was seen over Utah, where it left a particularly bright trace in the night sky. It is known that it happened on the night of May 4.

The American Meteor Society received numerous reports from Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, and the province of Alberta in Canada.

Some eyewitnesses have shared videos of the meteor hurtling over Salt Lake City and exploding in the sky over Wyoming.

“I’ve never seen anything like it – it was like fireworks were falling from the sky!”.

“It was like an explosion at the end of a blinding trail.”

“At first, I thought it was a falling airplane.”

“It seemed as if a huge balloon was hurtling across the sky. It wasn’t falling; it was flying. It was awesome!”.

According to NASA experts, the bolide was likely part of the Aeta Aquarida meteor shower, which peaks in early May. These meteors are known for their high speed and brightness.

And the characteristic green color may be caused by the nickel content, an element often found in space objects, explained NASA spokesman Jason Trump.

Such phenomena are rare and memorable for a long time, especially when they occur on a clear night and are accompanied by such a bright spectacle.
