How the iPhone is tested for water resistance
Inside Apple Labs: Testing iPhones for Water Resistance.
iPhones are tested using special equipment that creates various conditions similar to those the device might encounter in real life.
First, the device is exposed to water droplets to test its ability to remain functional during rain.
Then, low-pressure streams of water are dropped on the smartphone. This test evaluates how the device reacts to such a stream of water, such as a weak shower.
Next, the phone is exposed to a high-pressure stream of water to ensure that it remains protected even under heavy water pressure and impact.
The test is completed by placing the device in a special chamber where a vacuum is created and filled with low-pressure water.
This simulates extreme conditions such as swimming at depth or immersion in water.
