Global IT outage caused by Crowdstrike antivirus

A global Microsoft glitch has paralyzed airlines, banks, airports and mobile operators around the world.

A global Microsoft-related technical glitch has affected telecom operators, banks and airlines in at least the US, Turkey, Germany and Australia

Work has been suspended at Berlin-Brandenburg airport by Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines, foreign media reported.

It is claimed that this is due to an update of the antivirus CrowdStrike when interacting with Windows.

It is emphasized that this is not a cyberattack. Microsoft said it is taking “corrective actions”.

This comes after problems with Windows caused disruptions to IT systems around the world.

CNN is reporting that the disruption at U.S. airports is due to a bug in Microsoft’s Azure cloud storage platform.

130 flights were canceled and more than 220 flights were delayed by Frontier Airlines alone; other companies also reported problems, so the total will be higher.
