China is running out of waste
A new problem has emerged in China. The country is running out of waste, leaving waste incineration plants with nothing to burn. This was reported by the Financial Times.
It is reported that China had previously invested heavily in plants to destroy waste that had accumulated in cities.
However, their needs turned out to be greater than the amount of waste generated annually, which is why many plants are idle and even forced to purchase waste.
In addition, stricter rules for waste sorting and disposal have come into force in China.
The authors attribute the reduction in the amount of available waste to a slowdown in consumption.
Another problem is the decline in population and improved waste management in the country.
