Boxer Usyk was detained at the airport in Kraków
Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has been detained at Kraków airport. This is reported by The Mirror.
The reasons for the detention are currently unknown, the circumstances are being clarified.
The wife of Oleksandr Usyk said that everything is normal with the Ukrainian boxer.
“Later, Oleksandr will explain everything. Nothing criminal” – she wrote in social networks.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has intervened in the situation with Usik’s detention at Krakow airport.
The speaker of the Foreign Ministry Georgiy Tykhiy said that the Ukrainian side categorically does not perceive the attitude to its citizen and champion demonstrated on the video.
“On the instructions of the Minister Andriy Sibiga, the Consul General of Ukraine in Krakow has already urgently left for the airport to clarify the circumstances of the situation”, – said the representative of the Ministry.
It is also noted that the head of the foreign Minister of Ukraine Sibiga has already appealed to his Polish counterpart to immediately resolve this situation.
In May, Usyk became the first in the 21st century absolute world champion in boxing in heavyweight.
