Helmet with air curtain: a reliable defense against viruses
Engineers from the University of Michigan have developed a special helmet with an “air curtain” system.
It is able to prevent airborne germs and viruses from entering the respiratory tract.
The system has a device located in the backpack that purifies the air.
It feeds it down through nozzles on the helmet, forming a barrier around the user’s face.
This technology uses cold plasma to kill up to 99.8% of airborne pathogens.
This provides additional protection for agricultural and industrial workers where the risk of infection is high.
