A huge crater appeared on the site of the football field
In the American city of Oulton in the state of Illinois, a part of the football field in the city park went under the ground on Wednesday morning.
At the site of the soccer field, a crater is more than 30 meters deep and 30 meters in diameter. The Telegraph reports.
Along with the artificial turf, the lighting mast also fell under the ground.
It is reported that under the stadium is a limestone mine. The owners of the mine reported that the cause of the failure was subsidence.
Olton Mayor David Goins reported that no residents were injured during the incident.
The terms of elimination of the failure are still unknown – the state of the ground should be studied by engineers and geologists.
It is also known that several decades ago on the outskirts of the park has already appeared a ten-meter hole under the stream.
Then it could not be filled up immediately, for this it was necessary to change the stream bed.
