A bright ball of fire swept over the U.S. and Canada

A huge meteor passed in the form of a fireball over Lake Erie.

Eyewitnesses of the event published video and photos of it in social networks, reports Live Science.

It is noted that the fall of the meteor was observed by eyewitnesses in 10 U.S. states, the first reports began to arrive around 19:00 local time.

At the moment, the American Meteor Society (AMS) has received 534 messages about the flaming space rock.

Experts evaluated the trajectory of the meteor and found that it probably fell near the shore of Lake Erie in Pennsylvania.

The fireball appeared at an altitude of about 80 kilometers, it could be seen by residents of the United States and Canada.

According to the Earth Sky website, this is the largest fireball recorded in recent times.

According to experts, it is likely that the fall of the meteor was not associated with the meteor stream Taurids, which can be observed now.

Its peak is from late October to early November, and usually several “shooting stars” per hour can be observed.
