The Chinese company Xiaomi announced the launch of a factory where robots work exclusively.
CEO Lei Jun said that the new factory in Beijing can work 24 hours a day without people and produce 1 smartphone per second (10 million per year).
Some machines will assemble the gadgets, others will control the quality of their work, and others will keep the inside of the building clean.
There are also lines inside to produce automotive electronic parts. Xiaomi plans to further scale robotic manufacturing.
Xiaomi has invested $330 million to develop a new manufacturing process.
The new factory in Changping covers an area of 81,000 square meters.
This factory will be dedicated to the production of the upcoming Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 and Xiaomi MIX Flip foldable phones.
