World kickboxing champion, died in the war in Ukraine
It has become known that world kickboxing champion Roman Golovatyuk died defending Ukraine’s independence.
When the aggressor country, Russia, invaded Ukraine, Roman left his sports career and volunteered at the front.
His death was reported on the social networks of his hometown, Kamyanets-Podilskyi. Roman was to be 29 years old in September.
Roman Golovatyuk was considered one of the best athletes in WAKO kickboxing.
He was an honored master of sports, a World Games finalist, a world champion, multiple World and European Cup winner and multiple Ukrainian champion.
According to Wikipedia, Roman Golovatyuk became world champion on October 16–22, 2019 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina in the K-1 division.
In addition, on October 9–15, 2021, he took 3rd place at the World Championships in Lido di Jesolo (Italy) in the low-kick section.
