US intelligence foiled an assassination attempt on the CEO of a German company

It became known that American intelligence had prevented an assassination attempt on the CEO of the German defense company Rheinmetall.

This is reported by CNN with reference to its own sources.

The channel reports that earlier this year, American intelligence discovered that the Russian government was planning to kill the CEO of a major German arms manufacturer.

Rheinmetall produced artillery shells and military equipment for Ukraine.

The Russians allegedly had plans to eliminate other defense industry executives across Europe.

The plan to kill Armin Papperger was the most elaborate, CNN reported.

But it is unclear whether it was intended to kill Papperger directly or hire a local intermediary. It is claimed that intelligence was passed to Germany.

What happened to them next and whether anyone was detained are not given in the article. The FRG and Reinmetall have not officially commented on anything.

Rheinmetall is one of the manufacturers of Leopard tanks, Marder, Boxer, Lynx, and Fuchs fighting vehicles.

Its companies produce a wide range of ammunition for different types of weapons.

Dozens of countries buy these weapons: the Netherlands, Denmark, the USA, Algeria, Indonesia, Australia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and others.

The company also has many promising projects. Among them are laser air defense systems, the ultra-modern Panther KF51 tank, and an analogue of Himars systems.
