It became known that the detector of cosmic particles, installed in Antarctica, recorded a number of unexplained signals.
Such signals contradict modern models of particle physics. This is reported by La Brujula Verde.
It is known that the mysterious anomalies were noted during the experiment with the Antarctic pulse transient antenna (ANITA).
Scientists describe them as radio wave pulses. Such signals should be reflected off the ice.
However, observations have shown that they occur at impossible angles during physical interactions that are still unknown.
The authors of the study note that the detected pulses are not only a mystery.
They also indicate the potential existence of new particles or phenomena that do not fit into the generally accepted standard model.
As part of the experiment, the research team was trying to catch neutrinos – almost elusive cosmic particles.
They are widespread in the universe, but they are very difficult to detect with the help of instruments, because neutrinos are extremely weakly interact with matter.
When analyzing the mysterious signals, it turned out that the instruments did not catch neutrinos at all, but some completely different pulses.
