Ukrainian karateka defeats Russian opponent

On August 9, the World Games in Chengdu (China) hosted karate competitions among men in the weight category up to 84 kg. Ukraine was represented at the tournament by Valery Chebotar.

The Ukrainian karateka failed to advance from the group stage but delighted fans with a spectacular strike in his match against “neutral” athlete Eduard Gasparyan from Russia.

“The Ukrainian karateka kicked the Russian in the head. A 3-point ura-mawashi to the head—appreciate the skill of the Ukrainian karateka,” wrote the press service of the Ukrainian Karate Federation on Facebook.

The Ukrainian won the match against the Russian with a score of 4:0. Three points in the match were earned by the Ukrainian with a spectacular ura-mawashi kick to the head.

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian defenders showed military cunning during the battle.

Upon detecting a Russian drone, they did not shoot it down but tracked its landing site and destroyed the entire enemy position.
