Combat drones have attacked Yelabuga in Tatarstan, where Russia manufactures Iranian Shahed drones.
Yelabuga, 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) from the Ukrainian border, is a key production center for Shahed-136 (“Geranium”) drones.
This afternoon, Project Gorynych drones, having traveled a record 1,700 kilometers, attacked facilities in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone.
Unhindered bypassing the Russian air defense, which was called and praised as “unrivaled,” they made a targeted bombing.
It is reported that key production and assembly points of Kamikaze drones were hit.
According to preliminary reports, a factory and a dormitory were hit, with eyewitnesses reporting several precision hits and ammunition detonations.
Russia had planned to produce 6,000 drones by September 2025, but by August 2024, more than 4,500 had already been manufactured.
The Alabuga factory employs students and foreigners, including from Africa, who are brought in under the guise of training but are forced to work in harsh conditions.
The drones are equipped with new Chinese antennas to protect them from Ukrainian electronic warfare systems.
