Trump sues The New York Times

US President Donald Trump has filed a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against The New York Times.

He announced this on his Truth Social account.

Trump called The New York Times “the mouthpiece of the radical left Democratic Party” and “one of the worst newspapers in the country.”

The US president specified that he had filed a $15 billion lawsuit against the publication in a Florida court.

Donald Trump cited alleged defamation against himself and his family as grounds for the lawsuit.

He also cited the publication’s open support for his rival in the 2024 presidential election, Kamala Harris, who was vice president at the time.
