Trump says he would ‘encourage’ Russia to attack Nato
US President Donald Trump made several statements on Ukraine and NATO at a campaign rally in South Carolina.
“We have to settle this war, and I will settle it,” Trump said, referring to Ukraine.
The former president also said that the United States could “lose hundreds of billions of dollars” if Ukraine makes a deal with Russia without the participation of the Americans.
In his speech, Trump began again criticizing the aid to Ukraine being discussed in Congress.
He opposed their “non-refundable” nature, demanding that funds, if given, should only be on credit.
This is how Trump answered NATO members, who asked him “whether he will protect them from Russia if they do not invest money in the organization as they should.”
“One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, ‘Well, sir, if we don’t pay and Russia attacks us, will you protect us?’ I said, “You didn’t pay, so you’re late.”
“No, I wouldn’t defend you. In fact, I would tell them to do whatever the hell they want. You have to pay. You have to pay your bills,” Trump said.
