Donald Trump proposed to relocate residents of the Gaza Strip to Egypt, Jordan and other countries.
The Gaza Strip will be taken under US control and the residents should be relocated, Trump said.
The corresponding statement the American leader made at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to Trump, the Gaza Strip should not be rebuilt and then populated by people who fought for the enclave and “had a miserable existence there.”
As the US president pointed out, the logical step would be to turn to interested countries that would prepare areas for settlement by the residents of the Gaza Strip, who number about 1.8 million.
“It could be Jordan, it could be Egypt, it could be other countries, and you could build four or five, let’s say, zones,” the American leader said.
The politician added that the refugees need new housing, the construction of which could be paid for by neighboring countries that “have a lot of wealth.”
