The Islamic State published photographs of the likely perpetrators of the attack in the Amaq news agency.

Their clothing matches the clothing of the detainees in the video. Amaq called the attack “Russia’s revenge for the fight against ISIS,” writes Channel 4 Directorate.

At the same time, a US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the US has intelligence confirming ISIS’s claims of responsibility for the attack and has no reason to question this claim.

He also confirmed that America provided Russia with intelligence about a potential attack.
