A three-meter horror in the sand: why people are afraid to walk barefoot on Australia’s beaches

When it comes to creepy and dangerous creatures, Australia can always surprise.

In addition to giant spiders and snakes, another resident of Australian beaches attracts attention – a three-meter-long beach worm meat-eater that hides in the sand.

This unusual predator is known as the Australonufis or Australian beach worm.

It feeds on small marine organisms such as small fish, shrimp and other invertebrates.

These worms use their jaws to grab and hold prey, which they then devour.

Despite their menacing appearance, these worms are favored by fishermen as top-notch bait.

According to Fishing Australia, millions of these worms inhabit the beaches of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

Earlier, all the world’s prominent environmentalists reported on the looming plastic threat.

Plastic pollution of the world ocean is a serious problem.

Already, by 2050, the weight of plastic in the ocean may exceed the weight of fish.
