Apple has removed Threads, WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal apps from China’s App Store at Beijing’s request

Threads, WhatsApp, Telegram removed from China’s App Store

It has become known that Apple has removed the applications Threads, WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal from the Chinese App Store at Beijing’s request.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

The authorities of the People’s Republic of China demanded to do this for national security reasons.

Previously, these services were available in China only through VPN, but still enjoyed popularity.

“We have decided to remove these apps from the online store in an Asian country, citing national security concerns,” the company explained.

Last year, Beijing obliged developers of remote applications to undergo government registration.

The deadline for verification was until the end of March 2024. If the verification was not carried out, China demanded to stop the work.
