American basketball player Chris Banchero authored the first ever accurate four-point shot.
The event took place in a game of the Philippine Basketball Association’s (PBA) Governor’s Cup, which was the first in the world to introduce such a rule in its competitions
Four points are awarded for a shot from a distance of 27 feet (8.23 meters) from the ring.
The local basketball association has already done it in the All-Star Game.
Now they have introduced these rules for official games to increase the spectacle and attract fans.
Banchero, who plays for the Meralco Bolts, took a pass from a teammate during his team’s prolonged attack and sent it precisely to the basket.
After scoring, the player immediately showed on his fingers how many points the referees should give him.
His team won the home victory 99:94, and the American guard scored 14 points, becoming the second-most productive player on his team.
Most experts believe that the four-point rule will not spread and will not become popular.
But at the same time, the Philippines expects that this innovation in basketball will affect the tactics of teams.
