The world’s first 3D-printed railroad station

It became known that in Japan printed the world’s first railway station on a 3D printer. This is reported by the Independent.

It is noted that the first railroad station on a 3D printer was created in the Japanese city of Arida, which is located south of Osaka.

The new structure replaced the old wooden one, which served for more than 75 years.

The project was realized by the West Japan Railway Company in cooperation with the construction firm Serendix.

It took seven days to print all the elements, which were produced at a factory in Kumamoto Prefecture.

The parts were then delivered to the site, where they were assembled overnight between the departure of the last train and the arrival of the first train, in just six hours.

The result is a reinforced concrete station with a height of 2.6 meters and an area of about 9.3 square meters.

It is decorated with images of tangerines and knife fish, which symbolize local products, and is earthquake-proof.

It is also indicated that although the main building is ready, the installation of ticket machines and turnstiles is ongoing.

The station is scheduled to open to passengers in July 2025.
