The world has moved from the post-war period to the pre-war period – this was stated by Grant Shapps, head of the UK Ministry of Defense.
In a column for The Telegraph, he noted that the situation when some NATO countries cannot allocate even 2% of GDP for defense spending can no longer continue.
“Russia is threatening our neighbors. China is becoming more aggressive. Iran is using its proxies to cause regional chaos from the Middle East to the Gulf of Yemen, and North Korea is constantly rattling its nuclear saber,” he wrote.
The minister called for redoubling efforts to support Ukraine, increasing NATO and defense spending, and strengthening the Euro-Atlantic defense sector.
