The US Coast Guard found the wreckage of the bathyscaphe “Titan”
There was information that the US Coast Guard found the wreckage of the bathyscaphe “Titan”, which was on its way to the sunken “Titanic”.
This is reported by Sky News.
Two important parts of the ship’s system were found – the landing frame and the rear cover. The wreckage suggests a “catastrophic explosion” of the submarine, said Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard.
The company “OceanGate”, which is engaged in diving, has already expressed its condolences to the relatives and friends of the crew members of the “Titan”.
“Our hearts go out to these five souls and each member of their families at this tragic time. We mourn the loss of life and the joy they brought to everyone they knew.”
There were five people on board the Titan: the founder of OceanGate Stockton Rush, the French professional aquanaut Paul-Henri Nargeole, the British Hamish Harding, who visited the Challenger Abyss, as well as the British businessman with Pakistani roots, Shahzada Dawood.
