The U.S. Secret Service has strengthened the protection of the security of former President Donald Trump after an attempted assassination attempt on him.
This is reported by the New York Times with reference to informed interlocutors.
Reinforcements are carried out in various ways, in particular by temporarily redirecting part of the protection team of President Joe Biden to Trump.
The reassignment of members of the president’s team is unusual, a Secret Service official said.
Biden has reduced his travel schedule at this time, and the threat of violence against Trump has increased. Therefore, the move is considered necessary and feasible.
According to the NYT, the Secret Service is also using bulletproof glass to bolster Trump’s defenses at upcoming campaign rallies.
The Secret Service leadership is known to have taken responsibility for security lapses after the assassination attempt on Trump.
Kimberly Cheatle, the head of the Secret Service security detail, was forced to leave her post amid widespread criticism.
But the agency had to continue its mission to protect current and former U.S. politicians and their families during the presidential campaign.
