The robotic thumb
Third Thumb: Expanding the motor capabilities of the human hand.
With over 40% of the hand’s functionality dependent on the thumb, developers have decided to push our motor capabilities beyond current biological limitations.
The result is an innovative product called “Third Thumb,” which is a robotic finger that functions as the third thumb of the hand.
“Third Thumb” is attached to the user’s hand and is controlled by pressure sensors placed on the feet.
Signals from the sensors are processed by a special interface and algorithms, converting them into commands to move the finger.
Inside the device, there are motors and mechanisms that provide smooth and precise movements, mimicking the functionality of a real finger.
