Other anglers tried to help Thomas, but eventually had to call the Coast Guard.

The lifeguards arrived and said the owner would have to abandon the “Miss Monty” as it was too dangerous to tow the vessel.

Thomas tried to return to Miss Monty with his colleagues, but was unsuccessful. The vessel was eventually beached in one piece.
